you know what I beleive almigtyone... I beleive that if you don't turely beleive in Santa Clause he won't bring you any presents... Ok dude...let's "discuss" this issue. I am going to have to disagree with you on the topic at hand here. First off you can not fault the entire downfall of the United States on the lack of popular belief in a fictional character. Any "downfall" is due to the humans that exist here in America making personal descisions to give up freedoms and/or morals in exchange for the progress of the present day culture. Santa Clause actually represents this culture seeing that his image is one of the top seen by our society...espcially in December. Even Jesus Christ himself does not have the selling power of St. Nick! Since his conception, the image of Santa has been branded into the American landscape and has actually been a part of the upward mobility of this country.
But this arguement has another side which includes the question of the existance of Santa Clause. I can not confirm or deny the existance of an old guy who gave gifts to poor children just as much as I can not physically ensure that Christ was born on December 25th....he wasn't, but that's another arguement! What I can do is talk about the childhood lie told to millions each year of reindeer and elves, and weigh that against the true magic that is felt by many Americans young and old. They wrap gifts, sings carols, and maybe even for a moment remember a great man from long ago causing without mention someone else to belive.
It's like watching professional wrestling...you know it is fake, but DAMN those moves look cool! Plus the guy saying "don't try this at home" is just an invitation for you to do so!

With the accelerating rate that Children grow up today Santa Clause has been pushed out the door for real TV and Game Shows. Basacially what we have here is a generation of young adults growing up who are rasing Children at very young age. And the Culture of the United States is suffering because these young parents simply don't have time for all the orthodox fanasties that the United States has come to understand. So to keep the trend form slideing deeper into dept with foreine cultures who offer there own self awarness and so called enlightnment we must come up with a reason for people to beleive in the United States. When America Completly Stops beleiving in Santa Claues lets Just hope that the Christian Church is there for the Children especially those who grow up in ghettos and Children of Foreine Coutrys who come here beleiving that this is the promise land. It's easy for us as Americans to take advantage of the Country we live in because thats all we know but if you ever start doubting santa clause go be a missionary to africa where 10 dollars gets you a bottel of hot water and and some cold rice to live off of for a month.
