Hackintosh!

Post by JasonNeumeyer »

Ok, my mac pro equivalent project is complete. Here's the build:

-Asus P5K-E mobo
-8 gig Corsair Memory
-2TB HD
-Intel Duo 2 Quad Core 2.63ghz
-Thermaltake Water Cooling Kit
-Lite-On DVD w/lightscribe sata
-Geforce 8800 GTS-E

Rule: no IDE devices can be used for the hackintosh, in fact you need to disable IDE in the cmos and speed step. Everything in the box is SATA.

You need a copy of Snow Leopard and the Rebel software from Psystar.com
I've tried the long method of Hackintosh install and it sux, the Rebel software was cake.

Sound card may or may not work, it's dependent on if the manufacturer has released drivers for Snow Leopard. I have a Audiophile 2496 card that currently does not work, I'm currently using my Zero8 as my primary sound device.

I'm also working on modding an actual Mac Pro case to house all the components. I'll post the pics of the case when finished. The current setup works perfectly, no complaints and it runs cooler, faster than an actual Mac Pro.
