I have my Pc-50 up and running now... The only thing that I wish that it had was piano weighted keys. I fins that the Edirol PC-50 is VERY nice. good price also... (xmas gift from the mom in law.)

Anybody have any recommendations for FM synths? That is something I want to get more into.

CHECK OUT THE KORG MS2000. IT IS A REALLY WELL CRAFTED PIECE OF MACHINERY.THEN IF YOU WANT, USE IT AS A CONTROLLER FOR YOUR SOFTSYNTHS ALSO. THIS SYNTH SOUNDS LIKE TRUE ANALOG WHEN YOU PUT IT TO GOOD USE, WITHOUT THE LIMITATIONS OF OLD ANALOG. UNFORTUNATELY , YOU CAN ONLY HAVE A MAX OF 2 SOUNDS AT A TIME, IF YOU SPLIT THE KEYS. yES, THE VIRUS IS VERY,VERY NICE,THE MULTITIMBRALITY IS WAY MORE ADVANCED THEN THE kORGS. BUT W/ THE TABLE TOPS, YOU NEED TO BY A CONTROLLER, AND THEN SEQUENCER(COSTLY) TO USE IT'S MULTI PARTS. I USE A MICRO KORG 399 NEW, WHICH SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE THE OLD SYNTH THAT IT WAS MODELED AFTER(DW-8000,POLY 800), IT IS BASICALLY A VERY CHEAPLY MADE VERSION OF THE MS2000. BUT I LIKE IT STILL. IF YOU DEMO ONE, DON'T JUDGE BY ALL OF THE PRESETS, IT'S GOT POTENTIAL, AND IS PERFECT FOR ADDITIONS TO A DJ SET. IT'S EVEN BATTERYPOWERED FITS IN RECORD BAGS TOO..LIKE ALOT OF OLDER GEAR FROM THE 80'S AND EARLY 90'S(BATT.). CHECK OUT USED JP8000'S TOO. THEY ARE NICE AS WELL. aND YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIND ONLINE CHEAP.IT'S MORE HANDS ON FOR SURE THAN THE MICROKORG.
CHECK OUT VINTAGESYNTH.COM FOR AUDIO DEMOS AND REVIEW,SPECS ON MOST SYNTHS(SOFTWARE ONES AND HARDWARE)
GOOD LUCK

I ACTUALLY MISS MY NORD LEAD 3 ALOT. I FORGOT ABOUT THEM.NEED TO GET A NORD MODULE,THEIR FUN. I THOUGHT THAT I RECOGNIZED THOSE SOUNDS IN YOUR TRACKS STEVE C.I HAD A MS2000 YRS AGO TOO, BUT IT BLEW UP A WEEK AFTER I GOT IT, BACK THEN THERE WERE 3 MONTHS WAITING TIME IN BACK ORDER FOR PRODUCTION , SO I GOT SOMETHING ELSE. THEY ARE STURDY THOUGH, I HAD POWER ISSUES WHEN MINE WENT OUT.

I love my VirusB, $550 off ebay. I also love my electriibe EMX-1. You can make some great patches with the synth engine, super dirty/squelchy/cut through any mix kinda sounds.
